OVERVIEW

Welcome. Come in and get to know us. We strongly believe that our firm is special. Reflective of that, we were rated the only Texas-based law firm to receive Best Workplace for Women Recognition (vault.com, 2005), and we were recently ranked 4th nationally in percentage of minority Partners (American Lawyer, 2005).

What Sets Us Apart. We take recruitment seriously because our people define who we are. Since our inception, the way we operate as a law firm - what we are like on the inside - has distinguished us. That factor directly affects how we deliver legal services and how enjoyable it is to be associated with us. Below are some reasons for considering Haynes and Boone for your professional career:

  • Business/Financial Strength. We have always operated the firm as a business. Our financial and operating policies have been designed to achieve long-term stability. For many years, in recognized annual surveys of major national firms, we have been ranked in the top quartile based on firm financial capital (largest) and funded debt (lowest). We have established a vision for Haynes and Boone to compete in the legal marketplace and have put in place core business strategies to achieve that mission. We are always looking for ways to be better as a firm and to improve our competitive position.

  • Diversity. We are a diverse group of people who come from differing political, religious, educational, cultural, socio-economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds. As evidence of our attention to diversity, Haynes and Boone received the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s prestigious 2002 Thomas L. Sager Award. This award is given annually to law firms demonstrating sustained commitment to improve the hiring, retention, and promotion of minority and women attorneys.

In furtherance of our commitment to diversity, we also have established the Haynes and Boone Minority Scholars Program available to first year students at SMU Dedman School of Law and the University of Texas School of Law. This program is aimed at attracting outstanding minority law students to SMU and UT while at the same time helping these students succeed in law school. Haynes and Boone scholars receive a monthly stipend, a summer clerkship at Haynes and Boone and a mentor to provide guidance during the student's first year in law school.

  • Meaningful Career. We recognize that a meaningful professional career is much more than just handling major business transactions or trying high-profile lawsuits. Our lawyers see a need to give back to society for the public good.  We actively participate in many community service and pro bono programs. Likewise, we encourage our people to have meaningful and fulfilling outside interests, be they family commitments, hobbies or community service activities.

  • Professional Opportunity. As a leading U.S. law firm with a dynamic client base, Haynes and Boone handles complex and high-profile transactional, regulatory and litigation matters. Our lawyers are presented with many opportunities to grow professionally. We encourage our lawyers to write and speak on legal topics, participate in bar and other professional activities and become recognized experts in their respective fields. We provide them with cutting-edge technology to enable them to communicate with, and deliver services to, our clients more effectively and efficiently.

  • Reputation. As Haynes and Boone has grown from a handful of lawyers in 1970 to almost 500 today, has added new practice areas and has expanded geographically, our reputation and influence in business and in the legal community have also grown substantially. We are the recipients of an increasing number of special recognitions for our accomplishments among leading U.S. law firms.

  • Strong Culture. Our firm maintains a healthy work environment for our lawyers and staff. We value having a reasonable balance between our work and our personal lives. We have strived to preserve our special culture, in which people show respect for one another, help others achieve their goals and work as a team in serving our clients.
